Villa secured their first away win after going behind since 2013 today against Queens Park Rangers, thanks to a brace from Albert Adomah.
If you missed the match, fear not – you can get an idea of how the side played with our player ratings.
Sam Johnstone – 7
Looked assured between the sticks for the vast majority of the game, although did make a couple of mistakes that could have seen the game turn out differently.
Alan Hutton – 8
Worked tirelessly on the right hand side and is keeping the nay-sayers at bay with his performances recently. Avoided mistakes for most of the game and looked confident.
James Chester – 7
Lead the defence well, but could have done better at points, such as when Villa conceded.
Christopher Samba – 7
Deputised well as John Terry is absent, and many fans were thoroughly impressed with him during the game. Could have done better when QPR scored, but looked like a strong option at the back today. Had Villa’s first chance on goal.
Neil Taylor – 7
Re-gained his place at left-back today and linked up well with Adomah down that left hand side. Made a few mistakes and looked sloppy for much of the first half, but performed well. Booked for a challenge in the later reaches of the game.
Robert Snodgrass – 7
Was a consistent outlet on the right hand side and was involved in most of our counter attacks. Booked. Replaced by Mile Jedinak.
Glenn Whelan – 6
Enjoyed a good game in the centre of the park, but still looks sloppy in some of his play. Can’t question whether his heart is in it.
Conor Hourihane – 7
Involved in the second goal by providing a quality pass to Adomah. Performed well and even came close himself.
Albert Adomah – 9 (TC&V Man of The Match)
Scored a brace, albeit with one from the penalty spot. Could have had three or four, but found himself in the right places throughout the game. Much like Snodgrass, was a constant outlet on the left. Paired well with Neil Taylor. Replaced by Birkir Bjarnason on the 90th minute.
Joshua Onomah – 8
Played some piercing passes throughout the game and was sprightly in his dribbles forward. Could have easily scored himself and hit the bar before Villa were awarded a penalty. Replaced by Ritchie de Laet.
Keinan Davis – 8
Had a couple of opportunities himself, and surprisingly didn’t score despite playing very well. The QPR defence couldn’t deal with his size and strength for much of the game.
