Sam Johnstone – 6/10
Was let down by the defence in the first half, where he couldn’t do much to stop Donaldson’s brace. Made a great save to deny Carter-Vickers and saved us from losing the game.
Ahmed Elmohamady – 6/10
Played well at right-back. Linked up well with Snodgrass on the right flank. Put in a few nice crosses again, and is one of the Championship’s best crossers in my opinion.
Neil Taylor – 5/10
Taylor had a solid game defensively, although he did get caught out by Leon Clarke in the second half which could have cost us. Luckily the header didn’t find the back of the net, and he was kept quiet for most of the game by the Villa defence.
James Chester – 6/10
Had quite a shaky start to the game but started to get back in it later on, and was solid for the rest of the match.
Mile Jedinak – 5/10
It was going well for Mile at the start of the game, scoring a great header early on. But he really couldn’t get to grips with ex-Blues striker Clayton Donaldson who pounced on a poor mistake from Jedinak, who completely missed the ball – where Donaldson could slot it home.
Glenn Whelan – 5/10
Made a few nice passes in the centre of the park, but needs to pass forwards more than backwards when in attacking positions.
Conor Hourihane – 6/10
Had a few chances to shoot, but instead he passed it. Was strong in the middle of the park with Whelan. Did have a shot in the first half that went inches wide.
Albert Adomah – 7/10
Converted a spot kick very early on, sending the keeper the wrong way. He should have had two at the break, putting a header just over the bar.
Robert Snodgrass – 6/10
Put in a beautiful cross to set up Mile Jedinak’s header. Had a few nice touches again, but was subbed off later on for Ritchie De Laet.
Jack Grealish – 7/10
Another great performance from Jack in only his second start of the season. Was great going forward again and was getting himself about a lot.
Keinan Davis – 6/10
Held up the ball up front very well. Needs to score more goals, as he’s not one of those strikers who puts the ball in the back of the net. Earned the penalty in the first half.
Ritchie de Laet – 5/10 (Snodgrass)
Didn’t really do much to help going forward, nor defensively.
Gabriel Agbonlahor – 5/10 (Davis)
Didn’t get much of the ball, and therefore didn’t do much.
Scott Hogan – 5/10 (Elmohamady)
Same as Gabby, didn’t get the ball and wasn’t of use.
