Sam Johnstone – 7/10

Made good saves throughout the game and did very well to keep a long shout out from Keiran Dowell in the 86th minute. Rumours that he was going to Albion have died down and hopefully he will remain with Villa.

Alan Hutton – 6/10

Worked his socks off as always up and down the flank. Went forward well with the ball. Hutton made 52 passes and moved the ball well whilst in possession.

John Terry – 7/10

John Terry returned to the starting XI, and Villa fans were happy to see him return. John seemed solid in his return as the Forest attack could not do anything to pass the Villa back line. Terry hit the crossbar in the first half from a corner and was unlucky to not get a goal on his return.

James Chester – 7/10

Like Terry, Chester was solid throughout and had Brereton taken care of. Gave the ball away in the second half to Matty Cash but it luckily didn’t come to anything.

Ahmed Elmohamady – 6/10

Elmohamady completed 61 passes and was Villa’s leader in passes completed. Didn’t do much to impress but him and Snodgrass linked up well down the right.

Albert Adomah – 6/10

Was kept quiet for most of the game by the Forest defence, which was surprising. Not been at his best recently but Villa have been getting results nevertheless.

Glenn Whelan – 6/10

Looked strong in the first half but had to come off at half time, played well sitting in front of the defence.

Conor Hourihane – 7/10

Played well and was strong in the middle of the park. Played a more attacking role as Whelan dropped back. This is where Hourihane thrives and needs to be put there by Bruce more often.

Robert Snodgrass – 8/10

Another fantastic performance from Robert Snodgrass and is really starting to find form after another man of the match award. Assisted Villa’s only goal and had 72 touches of the ball. Had 8 fouls won, more than anybody else in the match.

Jack Grealish – 7/10

Again Grealish went forward with the ball terrifically. Some beautiful touches to get around defenders. Played well once again.

Scott Hogan – 7/10

Another goal for Hogan who is starting to find his feet. A great ball in from Snodgrass who put it into a dangerous position, and Hogan was there to put it in to the back of the net for his second league goal of the season.

Birkir Bjarnason –  7/10

Nice for Birkir to get a full half and he worked hard when he came on. Unknown whether this is because he’s in the shop window or because he wants to dispel rumours.

Keinan Davis – 6/10

Came on and held the play up well, but didn’t impact the game.

Neil Taylor – No Rating

Came on in the 91st minute and didn’t have time to make an impact.
