Callum O'Hare

Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare had more of a break out, rather than break through season at Villa Park last season,  making a number of cup appearances and four substitute appearances in the league – where he manged to get an assist.

For much of the season, Villa fans were calling for O’Hares inclusion – especially around the time that both Jack Grealish and Albert Adomah were injured in early 2018 – but O’Hares part in the season had seemingly come and gone.

And whilst the 20-year-old’s first team chances seemed limited, he did appear for the under 23 side a whopping 45 times, helping them to a cup final victory and a play-off final.

Why Callum O’Hare Should At Least Make the Bench Next Season

Callum O’Hare will more than likely miss the start of the season through an injury sustained during the Hong Kong Soccer 7’s, but should be competing for a place in the match day squad soon after the season opener.

Whether it’s in the first eleven or on the bench, O’Hare has certainly impressed fans and plaudits with what he’s shown them so far – and it would be a shame to send him out on loan and stunt the development he’s achieved at the club.

If Jack Grealish was to stay, O’Hare should be somewhat of an understudy to the midfield maestro, learning from Jack both on and off the pitch. This could not only do wonders for O’Hare in terms of building strength, but in providing a player to model himself on.

If Jack Grealish leaves, then O’Hare’s chance should be there for the taking. Villa are missing a creative attacking midfielder, and whilst they have the likes of Henri Lansbury – Steve Bruce seems to prefer utilising him as a holding midfielder.

Either way, the 20-year-old’s chance is likely to come in the 2018/19 season amidst rumours that Villa are struggling with finances.
