Aston Villa face Sheffield Wednesday today, and to get the low down on the Owls we spoke to Wednesday fan Paul.
Words by Harry Trend (@HazaTrand)
It’s a strange time to be an Aston Villa fan, not all were satisfied with the Pride’s 2-0 win over Rotherham on Tuesday.
Nonetheless, a wins a win. And hoping Villa won’t get another three points on the board is Sheffield Wednesday fan Paul (@wednesdayite).
How would you rate your summer transfer dealings out of 10 and why?
With the transfer embargo in place we were not able to sign any players on permanent deals . However as the embargo was lifted just prior to the loan window closing it was pleasing to see us bring in two players: Michael Hector from Chelsea an experienced centre back to bolster our defence and Josh Onamah from Spurs who at just 21 looks a great prospect and adds attacking flair to our midfield, so I would say 5/10.
What were your expectations going into the season?
With the embargo we knew it was going to be tough and I expect us to be challenging for the play offs, but with the number of teams with premier league parachute payments the playing field is not level. I think we will finish around 8th.
Describe the style of football Jos Luhukay likes to play.
Difficult one this, he does seem to change it around a lot from game to game.
Do you think the Championship as a whole has got stronger or weaker than last season?
Overall stronger than last year, with West Brom and Swansea adapting well in the Championship and teams like Leeds, Bristol City, Ipswich having money to spend in the summer.
Which Sheffield Wednesday players should Villa be wary of?
Let’s hope it’s Adam Reach again! Barry Bannan is on good form at the moment and is creating so much.
Where do you think Villa will finish this season and why?
Above us – probably 4th or 5th.
Score prediction for Saturday?
Got to go with a 2-1 win to us.
