Centre-back Jacob Bedeau has left Aston Villa this evening, joining Scunthorpe on a free transfer.

Exactly two years to the day when he joined Aston Villa for a fee of £900,000, the youngster has now found himself moving without even appearing once for the first team – or even making the game-day squad.

With the price initially paid for the then 17-year-old, fans thought he was certainly one for the future, and expected Bedeau to at lest move out on loan to try and earn a new contract with Villa before it expired in the summer.

Fans will be disappointed that the club have wasted such an amount on a player that has ultimately come to nothing.

Jacob Bedeau did train on multiple occasions with the senior team, in an attempt to bulk himself up as his skinny frame wasn’t considered to be that of a centre-back.

It has come as a bit of a shock to us here, but it shows how hard it is to make it in the upper echelons of the footballing league, and either Dean Smith or Mark Delaney have thought that he just wasn’t good enough.
