On what could be a huge weekend for Aston Villa Ladies as they face West Ham United in the quarter-finals of the Women’s FA Cup, the club have certainly put the supporters in good spirits by announcing that 18-year-old Jodie Hutton has signed her first professional contract with the club.
Putting pen to paper in a deal until June 2020, with an optional extension for the club, Hutton has been rewarded for her hard work and some stellar appearances for the Ladies this season.
Having played for the club since the age of nine, Jodie Hutton hasn’t played football for another team and describes her signing of the contract as ‘surreal’ and a ‘dream come true’.
In an interview with the club, she discussed the approach of CEO Christian Purslow and how he’s had a major affect on both the men and women’s sides.
When asked about Jodie’s contract, Purslow said he was “delighted” to be awarding a player who has been a “star” this season and hopes it will be “only the beginning of an illustrious career” in Women’s football.
The Ladies side have punched far above their weight this season, which has impressed Purslow and could see the side receiving more investment in the years to come.
It is great to see that the club are investing in their future by securing Jodie to a professional contract, and the start of more improvements to the women’s team.
