Aston Villa have officially announced the signing of 23-year old Kortney Hause from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Villa decided to execute a buy option for the young defender, rumoured to be in the region of 3 million pounds.
Hause featured for Villa on 12 occasions as a loanee this previous season, and was there for Dean Smith when called upon. The Villa manager used Hause wisely after acquiring the player in January for badly needed defensive help. Hause proved to be not only adept at centreback, but help filled in in other defensive positions. Featuring at left-back on four occasions with a 7.17 average match rating, Hause provided a sample of what he would be able to bring to Aston Villa from a standpoint of quality depth and versatility.
Hause also brings back a bit of aerial ability on the defensive side of the ball for the Villans, as shown from his time on loan this previous season with 56 aerial duels won out of 81. If Hause can keep up anywhere near the average of 4.7 aerial duels won, Villa will have a very tidy player on their hands.
At the moment, Aston Villa are in need of players in almost every area of the pitch. The centreback position is no different, but getting a player like Hause is a good step in the rightfully patient direction. Hause obviously knows Aston Villa, the standard that Dean Smith has for his players and what it means to play for a club of this stature. He is familiar with the core group of players and knows what is expected of himself in terms of determination. Even if Hause is used as a squad player and progresses from there, this looks to be a good signing for Aston Villa on all fronts.
Our Hause, in the middle of defence….. great signing with much promise.
