Aston Villa youth prospect Andre Green has departed the club on a loan basis to Preston North End until the end of the season.
Green has looked promising in the preseason for Aston Villa so far, but with the extreme bankroll at Villa’s disposal, it always seemed like he would be the odd-man-out.
The 21-year-old Aston Villa youth academy graduate has been on an upward-trajectory the past few years, making his presence known in his latest loan spell at Portsmouth.
Green has all of the physical ability in his locker, but at times seems to be bereft of an end product.
Villa supporters are well aware that the winger is “one of our own”, as Green is a tried and true Aston Villa supporter. If he can find a way to separate himself from the pack of new arrivals that have come into Villa Park this summer, a loan move away would have always been most likely.
El Ghazi, Jota, and Trezeguet remain as the men who (at present time) will be fighting for a place in the wide areas of the pitch as Aston Villa return to the Premier League.
All signs point towards Aston Villa yet again digging into their pockets and bringing in a player who can play on both flanks as a backup option. It would not be a far cry to assume that if the club does bring in a player to replace Green, it’s not going to be for a large fee.
Best of luck to Andre Green in his time at Preston North End!
