Aston Villa have been drawn against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup Third Round.

After breezing past Crewe Alexandra in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup last night in an affair that saw Aston Villa score six goals with a team full of players on the fringe of the first team squad, they’ll come up against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Third Round.

The big guns will enter the competition in this stage, meaning any club involved in European Competitions are now running for the trophy. Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Arsenal were all available to be drawn against.

The draw numbers were as follows, with Aston Villa occupying the number twenty-one:

Brighton struggled past Bristol Rovers in the Second Round, only getting through thanks to a 92nd minute goal from Glenn Murray, despite dominating throughout the ninety minutes.

It’ll be a good test for a number of fringe players coming up against fellow Premier League players, but it’s an exciting prospect none the less.
