_________
October’s a weird month, and moreso this year. There’s an awful lot going on in the world of Premier League football and Aston Villa.
In a first for the Gather ‘Round The Lamp podcast, we record during an international break to discuss a number of hot topics in the world of B6.
The podcast starts with discussion surrounding Black History Month and the importance of Black and Minority Ethnic footballers to Aston Villa. With such a rich history of black players including one that we fondly refer to as god, we reflect on how important our past is and how the future needs to replicate the past.
As well as this, there’s discussion about the international break and Jack Grealish’s Player of the Match performance for England against Wales, and his and Tyrone Mings’ omission from the matchday eleven against Belgium.
The hot topic at the time of recording was the new Pay-Per-View announcement from the Premier League, where we talk about the future of streaming football and the need for a Netflix-style subscription service for the football you want to watch.
Other points of discussion include Frederic Guilbert, the closing of the Domestic Transfer Window and more.
