As we’ve reached the end of the Aston Villa Women season and are close to the end of the men’s campaign, it’s time for awards season, as we at Under A Gaslit Lamp celebrate the best players, the biggest moments and more in the world of the Villans.

Young Player of the Year: Carney Chukwuemeka

Our Young Player of the Year is none other than Carney Chukwuemeka, a youngster who has made strides in his progression at Aston Villa this season.

Performing regularly in midfield for the Aston Villa Under 23 side that has reached the Youth Cup Final, the 17-year-old has also appeared for the England youth set-up this season too.

Carney made his senior debut alongside Jaden Philogene-Bidace in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur, and narrowly missed out on a debut goal as his shot rolled onto the post.

Carney will likely become more of a regular next season after making his senior debut, but will likely still appear for the youth set-up as he continues his progression.

An incredible season for the youngster, who has certainly made an impression on Aston Villa fans worldwide.

He continues to train with the senior squad and has impressed Dean Smith, alongside a number of his peers.

Kudos on a great season, Carney!
