___________
In the latest episode of the Gather ‘Round The Lamp Aston Villa podcast, the first of season five, our presenters return to talk all things across a special summer. Andy (@Andyvillak2), Craig (@craigstorrod) and Dan (@DanielBettridge) join forces once again to speak about everything we know about the Summer Series, pre-season, the start of the new season and much more.
What to expect in this episode:
In this episode of the podcast there are a range of conversation points that the lads delve into, as well as catching up after the summer break.
The Summer Series
The gang chat about The Summer Series, with Craig able to attend one of the games while Aston Villa were in the United States.
There’s also talk about the general experience for States-based fans and the club giving plenty of opportunity to worldwide fans in the past few pre-seasons.
The conversation also turns to the new experience of playing fellow Premier League sides as part of pre-season.
Signings settling in
The discussion then changes toward the arrival of the three new signings this summer, Youri Tielemans, Moussa Diaby and Pau Torres.
From here, they talk about bedding into the squad and how each player has performed during pre-season, with all new arrivals impressing.
48-hour double-header
Following the Summer Series, Aston Villa finished their pre-season with two friendlies with a quick turnaround, playing Lazio at Walsall’s stadium before travelling to Valencia.
The presenters talk about how this turnaround is an early sign of what’s to come for the Villa squad, as well as making a number of tactical observations that were visible during the games.
Transfer window
There’s just under a month remaining in the transfer window and it seems like Aston Villa are going to remain active.
Talk centres around potential exits and incomings as the window trudges toward a conclusion.
Newcastle United away
The podcast concludes with discussion of two of the most in-form teams from last season beginning their new campaign against each other.
Bogeyman Harvey Barnes gets a mention following his £38,000,000 transfer from Leicester City, while there’s also talk about how we expect Unai Emery to manage from a tactical perspective.
